Jazz – Gospel – Blues – stunning ancient Hebrew poetry – Jeremy Walker – Tesfa Wondemagegnehu – a classical choir – this Saturday night at 8:00 in “7 Psalms.”  How can this all come together?  Well, see for yourself in this sneak preview:   https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=flMRRIJUqkE

Here’s what others had to say:

"7 Psalms is an affecting piece of music, a remarkable achievement, and the upcoming performance at Orchestra Hall should not be missed." —American Jewish World

"I wasn’t prepared for the power, scope, and enormity of 7 Psalms ... It was requiem and hosanna, blues and hymn.” —bebopified

“Inspired by Johnny Cash and John Coltrane, Mozart’s Requiem, Bach’s Mass in B Minor and Radiohead, Walker wrote new music for the ancient Hebrew poems that are cries for help, howls of frustration and shouts of joy.” —Star Tribune

A few seats are still available – grab yours here:   http://www.minnesotaorchestra.org/buy/tickets/browse-calendar/eventdetail/640/-/7-psalms#.Vp-OQfkrLIU

We hope to see you Saturday night!

THE HORNISTS are featured on this month’s cover of Showcase magazine!  And what a section!  We know that you love them given the huge eruption of cheers whenever they take solo or section bows.

Stay for a few minutes after Sunday’s 2:00 performance of Beethoven Symphonies #3 & #8 and Piano Concerto #3 to meet and mingle with these extraordinary musicians.

Details and tix here:   http://www.minnesotaorchestra.org/buy/tickets/browse-calendar/event/497/-#.VpE4WfkrLIU

Ellen, Herb, Bruce, Brian and Michael look forward to meeting you on Sunday!  Be there!

Just two chords.  How much differently can they be played?  At last night’s concert preview, Sam Bergman talked about how different orchestras and conductors interpret Beethoven’s symphonies.  And he played an enlightening YouTube chronological compilation of recordings of the first two chords of Symphony #3 “Eroica” – watch it here:   https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UnhlQUBsd6g

You can find our MN Orchestra’s 2005 rendition under Osmo Vänskä at 2:31 of the video.  Listen carefully tonight/tomorrow when they play this symphony to see if his interpretation has changed!

We hope to see you at the Hall - details and tix here:   http://www.minnesotaorchestra.org/buy/tickets/browse-calendar/eventdetail/496/-/beethoven-symphonies-8-3-eroica-third-piano-concerto#.VpEsNPkrLIU
